The Archbishop of Colombo condemns the sudden arrest of civil society activist Shehan Malaka Gamage and the attack on the house of journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrema, said Archbishop Cyril Gamini, a member of the Colombo Archdiocese Communications Committee.
This was stated by Fr. Cyril Gamini at a press conference held at the Archbishop’s residence in Colombo this afternoon.
He said that the country is losing its democracy and white vans are re-emerging and the country is moving towards dictatorship.
Rev. Cyril Gamini also said that Mr. Shehan Malaka Gamage had stood up for the victims of the Easter Sunday attack and called for justice for them.
Fr. Cyril Gamini said that the suffering of the Catholic people could not be suppressed without implementing the recommendations of the commission report on the Easter attack.
