Secretaries of all recognized political parties in the country have been summoned to the Elections Commission on the 24th.
Its chairman Attorney-at-Law Nimal Punchihewa stated that the call was made to inform the representatives of the political parties about the new amended rules proposed by the Elections Commission regarding election activities.
He further stated that steps will be taken to obtain suggestions and views of political parties.
At present, there are 79 political parties registered with the Election Commission.
The Elections Commission states that 6 of these political parties are not active.
