Kuragala, Muhudu Maha Viharaya, Deeghawapiya has been confirmed as the heritage of the country. President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has said that these should not be sell out again by being deceived.
The President made this observation addressing a gathering of thousands of people at the Salgadu Stadium in Anuradhapura today (09) at a public meeting organized by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
The President said that the income of the farming community would be increased by 100 percent with or without fertilizer.
The President also said;
My first presidential election meeting was in this area. At that meeting I promised you that the fertilizer will be provided free of charge, the fixed price of paddy will be increased. I must remind you that it was my first duty. I say today, with or without fertilizer the income of the farming community will increase by 100 percent. I assure you that I am committed to do anything for the farmers.
Then-President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s presidency was abolished by spreading false propaganda when he started to create economic development in the country. What happened in the following five years? Those people destroyed the security we had established then. Finally it developed to the bombing on Easter Sunday. The country’s intelligence service was destroyed. War heroes were betrayed. Driven Sri Lanka to the international arena and destroyed the sovereignty of this country. What happened to our nationality, religion and cultural heritage? They were destroyed. The monks were taken to court. Keep in mind that we have eliminated that situation in these two years.
National security has been ensured now. Our religion and our culture have preserved. Today, the Kuragala, Muhudu Maha Viharaya, Deeghawapiya, which was lost then, has been confirmed as the heritage of the country. Do not be deceived by lies and sell out these again. Look at what those who have been in the Opposition for 15 consecutive years have done today. We come to you after doing our job. Our policies, party’s policies are policies that look to the future. All these policies, be they for education or electricity, are carried forward for the benefit of the youth of this country. We increased the enrollment head count to universities by 10,000. We have brought technology to the university. We are working on to change primary and secondary education.
Speaking of a green agriculture, when we were little we had the ability to drink some water from a paddy field stream. Is it possible today? We are talking about green agriculture considering Kidney diseases and cancers polluted water can cause. We will not allow the economy of the farming community to collapse. Join me. Have faith. You get caught up in the wrong propaganda and go on strike due to the wrong political forces. Your responsibility is not for the government but for the people. So, fulfill your responsibility for the country. The President called on state employees to fulfill their responsibility to the people within the next three years to carry forward the vision of prosperity.
