EU calls on Sri Lankan government to lift import restrictions

The European Union (EU) has called on the Sri Lankan government to lift import restrictions imposed on certain products in European countries.

The request was made at a joint meeting of the European Union in Brussels, Belgium.

The meeting was between representatives of the European Union and the Government of Sri Lanka.

EU representatives have pointed out that the ban on imports from Sri Lanka has prevented many European products from entering the Sri Lankan market.

Speaking on behalf of Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan delegation pointed out that import restrictions have been imposed only on a limited number of non-essential items.

They point out that these import restrictions have been imposed in the face of a severe foreign exchange crisis in the face of the Covid epidemic. The Sri Lankan delegation is confident that the restrictions will be lifted in the future.
