A man has been shot dead in the Turkish village of Midigama in Weligama last night.
Police investigations have revealed that the murder was carried out by a friend of the victim on the orders of a powerful drug dealer in Dubai.
The victim was a 46-year-old resident of a Turkish village. A case is being heard in the Matara High Court regarding this person being assaulted and mutilated by a group of people including Harakkata in 2015. The case was heard yesterday and Harakata’s party has requested the court to settle the case. According to the police, the victim had demanded Rs. 1 million and Harakata’s party had agreed to pay Rs. 1 million. The case has been adjourned due to the victim’s refusal to accept a settlement fee of Rs. 500,000.
Police investigations have revealed that he had been shot dead by a friend who had taken him on a motorbike to the court that morning and had taken him home at the end of the case.
Police say that the suspect is currently in hiding and investigations are underway to arrest him.
