The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) sources say that the power generation activities of both Sapugaskanda power plants will be halted tonight due to the depletion of fuel.
According to the sources, the two Sapugaskanda power plants have only enough fuel left to generate electricity until around 8 tonight.
According to CEB sources, if the two Sapugaskanda power plants are shut down, the national grid will lose about 100 megawatts of capacity.
Meanwhile, CEB sources say that the three Kelanitissa power plants which were shut down have started generating electricity.
