The All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association states that 50 percent of all restaurants have been closed due to the shortage of wheat flour in the market.
Its chairman NK Jayawardena says the situation will worsen next month due to the dollar shortage in the country.
He added that due to the shortage of wheat flour, there will be queues in the future to buy bakery items including bread.
He said it costs about $ 35 million a month to import wheat flour.
