The body of one of the three girls who went missing while bathing at Thummodara Kumari Falls in Hanwella last evening (30) has been found.
She is a 16-year-old girl.
Police say that the three girls have drowned due to the heavy rains that fell last evening.
Five girls drowned and two were rescued.
A group of 08 persons including the five girls had come to this waterfall from Hedala area to bathe. Among them were several residents of Jaffna.
According to the police, the group had been bathing and having fun since noon. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the group had drowned due to the heavy rains at around 6.30 pm.
Missing are two girls aged 14 and 29. Police, Army, Navy, and villagers are searching for them, police said.
