    Pakistani delegation of Senators to visit Priyantha’s Family in SL

    Pakistan’s Senate unanimously passed a resolution on Friday (24th) condemning the despicable act that happened to the Sri Lankan citizen Priyantha Kumara, who was brutally murdered in Sialkot, Pakistan.

    The Chairperson said in a statement that a delegation of senators would be sent to Sri Lanka to personally hand over a copy of the resolution to Priyantha Kumara’s family and to express his condolences to his family members.

    According to reports, the resolution condemns extremism in the country in all its forms and manifestations.

    The motion was moved by the Leader of the House of the Senate, Shahzad Wasim.

    It added that the tragedy of this horrific barbarism reflects the minds of extremist sections of the society that has tarnished not only the peaceful image of Pakistan but also Islam.

    The proposal emphasizes that this cruelty is a complete violation of the spirit, principles, teachings and precepts of Islam, the practices of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the moral and human values, the Constitution of Pakistan and the laws and customs and norms of society.

    The House extended its deepest condolences to the family of Priyantha Kumara and reiterated the grief and sorrow felt at the national level over the incident.

    The motion called for immediate punishment not only for those responsible for inciting and killing Priyantha Kumara, but also for those involved in similar acts of violence in the past.

    Concluding the discussion on a resolution on the attack on Sri Lankan citizen Priyantha Kumara in Sialkot, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said that the attack was strongly condemned by all sections of society.
