The Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association says they have launched a restaurant inspection program during the festive season.
The President of the Association Upul Rohana stated that special attention is paid to the production of food as well as the raw materials used in the production.
He said charges had been filed against several restaurants for selling expired and substandard food.
In addition, Rohana urged the public to take health precautions when purchasing food items during the festive season.
