The trade union action launched by the Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters’ Association is still in effect today (25).
As a result of the strike, station masters are refraining from accepting parcels and issuing tickets.
The strike was triggered by a number of issues, including the lack of a freight train, the failure of the Railway Department to address the problems of station masters, and signal system problems.
The Station Masters ‘Association stated that they had decided to take continuous trade union action as the issues were not resolved during the discussion held on Friday (24).
They said that a continuous strike would be launched from tomorrow (26) due to the failure of the authorities to provide solutions.
