The Court of Appeal today ordered Litro and Laugfs Gas to release only domestic gas cylinders approved by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.
The court also ordered to take action to recollect the domestic gas cylinders released in the market which do not conform to the standards ordered the two gas companies not to charge a fee for the supply of new compliant gas cylinders to replace the domestic gas cylinders with issues sold to the market and to consumers.
The board of judges Ruwan Fernando and Sampath Wijeyeratne passed the order on a petition filed by civil society activist Nagananda Kodithuwakku seeking an inquiry into the explosions caused by the gas leaks.
