Former Minister Sirisena Cooray, who was a huge political figure in the country during the Premadasa regime, has passed away.
He was being treated at a private hospital in Colombo.
He also served as the Mayor of the Colombo Municipal Council from 1979 to 1989.
He also served as the Minister of Housing and Construction in the Government of President Ranasinghe Premadasa.
He was also the General Secretary of the United National Party and is considered as a revolutionary figure in Sri Lankan politics.
