The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Senior Engineers’ Association states that the strike launched by the CEB engineers is illegal and baseless.
CEB Senior Engineers’ Association spokesman Nandika Pathirage said that senior CEB engineers would not be involved in the action taken by a group of CEB engineers and that there should be no undue fear of a power outage.
A spokesman for the Senior Engineers’ Association said that the transfer of the LNG plant to the American company to solve the existing dollar crisis is not illegal and does not see any harm in it.
Senior Engineer of the Ceylon Electricity Board Nandika Pathirage said that the CEB’s Association of Engineers wants to operate up to emergency purchases and collect commissions from them and that no assistance will be given to them.
He also stated that not supporting the administration of the Ceylon Electricity Board is a baseless course of action.
He said that a fundamental rights petition is being heard in the Supreme Court regarding the LNG plant agreement and that it is illegal and show of force for such a trade union action to be taken during the petition.
