The Met Department predicts heavy showers of more than 100 mm in the Eastern, North-Central and Uva provinces and in some places in the Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Matale districts during the next 24 hours.
Heavy showers of more than 75 mm are expected in some parts of the rest of the island under the influence of the low-pressure area.
