All Ceylon Transport Workers’ Union (ACTWU) has written to Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa seeking an immediate bonus of Rs. 30,000 for SLTB employees, Rs. 15,000 as a bonus and Rs. 15,000 on a loan basis to purchase school equipment.
They have requested the Minister of Finance to intervene in granting this bonus as their employees did not have adequate health facilities and worked during the Covid epidemic despite the risk to their lives.
At the request of the union, a sum of Rs. 23,500 was paid last year, but in view of the current economic crisis, they further request that action be taken to pay the full amount of Rs. 30,000 to all SLTB employees this time without any classification.
