Minister of State Prof. Channa Jayasumana says that it has been observed that the new sub-variant of the newly identified Delta variety is spreading widely among the youth and school children in the country.
The Minister of State says that most people who have been fully vaccinated now have mild colds, mild to moderate muscle aches, and a mild cough, which can be seen as symptoms of a Covid infection, which is often overlooked.
However, he said that even if fully vaccinated, the Covid virus could still infect another person and that at least a rapid antigen test should be done as it may have a greater effect on those who have not been vaccinated.
He also urged parents to educate their children on the need for regular adherence to health guidelines.
