United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera has told Newswave.LK that his party members have complete freedom to make independent decisions during the budget elections of local government bodies.
He also stated that no disciplinary action will be taken against the MPs in this regard.
The Minister further stated the following.
“We do not exert pressure on SLFP members during local government elections.
If the local council they represent does not support them, they can make their own decisions. We do not influence their decisions.”
