    A female AD of the Police Headquarters has been appointed for the first time in history

    Senior Superintendent of Police Lanka Rajini Amarasena has been appointed as the Administrative Director of the Police Headquarters.

    This is the first time in the history of the Sri Lanka Police that a female officer has held the post of Administrative Director in Police Headquarters.

    This post is awarded to the most Senior SSP among the Senior Superintendents of Police of the Sri Lanka Police.

    Lanka Rajini holds several records in the history of the Sri Lanka Police.

    The first report is that she was a member of the first batch of female sub-inspectors recruited to the permanent service of the Sri Lanka Police. That recruitment took place in 1997.

    She has served as a Sub Inspector and Inspector of Police in many parts of the country such as Elpitiya, Meetiyagoda, Bentota, Peradeniya and Ambalangoda Police Stations and has been the OIC of various Complaints Divisions, Children and Women’s Bureau and Administrative Divisions.

    While serving in the Meetiyagoda Police Station as an Inspector of Police, she passed the competitive examination for the recruitment of Graduates as Apprentice Assistant Superintendents of Police and returned to the Police Service on November 3, 2008 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police. Along with her, two other women officers joined the Police Service as Assistant Superintendents of Police and they are the first three female officers in the history of the Sri Lanka Police to join the Police Service as Apprentice Assistant Superintendents of Police.

    She has served in the Police Children and Women’s Bureau for most of her life as an Assistant Superintendent of Police and was also its Director for some time. She was later transferred to Mount Lavinia Police Division and was serving in the Kelaniya Police Division when she was appointed to the new post.

    Sri Lanka Police announced that she is the first female police officer to be appointed to the post.

    The first female ASPs in the history of the Sri Lanka Police, Officers Imesha Muthumali, Darshika Kumari and Madara Ariyasena, as well as Lanka Rajini, who were among the 03, joined the Police Service for the first time in their history as Assistant Superintendents of Police back then.
