Queen of Denmark receives Credentials of Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Denmark

Queen Margrethe II of the Kingdom of Denmark received the Letters of Credence of Ambassador of Sri Lanka Dharshana M. Perera accrediting him as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Denmark on Friday, 05 November, 2021.

The Audience with The Queen and the presentation of Credentials took place at the historic Yellow Room of the Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen.

Queen Margrethe expressed the hope that the relations between the two countries will be increased significantly during the tenure. Ambassador Perera conveyed his firm resolve to work towards further enhancing the good relations and cooperation existing between the two countries.

During a tête-à-tête, Ambassador Dharshana Perera conveyed to Queen Margrethe II greetings and good wishes of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The conversation which followed touched on the historical connections of the early 1600s between Denmark and Sri Lanka such as those established between the Royal Court of King Christian IV and the Kandyan Kingdom. Mutual interest in archaeological discoveries, creative arts and paintings, emerging popularity of Sri Lanka amongst Danish tourists and other areas of mutual interest were also shared.

Earlier, for the Credential Ceremony- simplified due to precautionary pandemic related guidelines- Ambassador Perera was received on arrival by the Master of Ceremonies and thereafter greeted by the Lord Chamberlain prior to the Audience with the Queen.
