The Federation of Public Officers’ Associations has written to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa informing him that if the government does not take immediate action to address the issue of non-payment of salaries or allowances to state employees, it will resort to trade union action without prior notice.
The letter further states that due to the non-payment of salaries or allowances to 1.5 million state employees in the current budget, nearly 6 million dependents are facing a problem of livelihood.
Therefore, the letter signed by the National Organizer of the Federation of Public Officers’ Associations, BAP Basnayake, states that the government should take immediate action to address this issue.
