The National Dengue Control Unit states that there is a high risk of spreading a dengue epidemic throughout the country.
Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, Director of the National Dengue Control Unit said that 2021 dengue patients were seen in October and more than 500 patients were recorded in the first four days of November.
Therefore, a six day dengue eradication program will be implemented in the Western and Eastern Provinces from today (08) to Saturday (13), said Mr. Samaraweera.
He said that the special dengue control program will be implemented in 59 selected high risk medical officer divisions in the Western and Eastern Provinces.
Mr. Samaraweera further said that the dengue eradication program is being implemented with the participation of health workers, the Armed Forces, the police and volunteers.
