The Elections Commission states that tenants or rent residents, as well as unauthorized occupants, can register as voters at the address where they reside and the commission does not pay attention to property rights when registering.
The Election Commission also points out that obstructing citizens from registering as voters is an offense punishable by a fine or by imprisonment or both.
The Election Commission states that the consent or agreement of the property owner is not required to register as such voter.
