Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa said the SLPP was formed to ensure victory for the people but not to defeat anyone.
He said it at the function to mark the fifth anniversary of SLPP. He thanked the small parties that supported the SLPP and said he wished to seek the same cooperation from them in the future.
He said the party is still in its tender years though it has secured victories.
He asserted that the SLPP is not a party meant for all ethnic, religious and caste groups.
