A multi-day trawler that was apprehended by the Navy along with 9 Iranians in the deep sea while carrying 160 kilos of heroin from Pakistan to Sri Lanka is due to be brought to the Port of Colombo today (18).
The vessel was apprehended by the Navy in the deep sea last Saturday on a tip-off received from an officer attached to the Batticaloa Police.
Police investigations have revealed that the heroin had been sent to Sri Lanka on an order given to Pakistani traffickers by Sanju, who is currently staying in Dubai.
The vessel was scheduled to be brought to the Port of Colombo yesterday but had to be towed due to a technical fault, Navy sources said.
