    Development Officers starts Series of Protests demanding Answers to unsolved Issues

    The Development Officers’ Service Union states that a series of district level protests will be held from this afternoon demanding solutions to the professional issues affecting state and provincial public development officers.

    Chandana Sooriyarachchi, General Secretary of the Development Officers’ Service Union said that a series of agitations will be launched as the problems affecting about 100,000 public and provincial public servants have not been resolved.

    The first protest will be held in the center of Kurunegala at 12 noon, said Mr. Sooriyarachchi.

    The series of protests will be held in Badulla tomorrow at 12 noon, in Ratnapura on July 27 and in Anuradhapura on July 28 at 12 noon, he said.

    Mr. Chandana Sooriyarachchi said that a series of agitations are being held on issues such as obtaining a risk allowance for development officers engaged in essential services, obtaining a promotion procedure, eliminating salary anomalies and increasing the monthly allowance of statutory graduates to Rs. 30,000.
