A suspect who transported the gunman involved in the attempted shooting of a 19-year-old youth near the Galle Road coastal area in Mt. Lavinia has been arrested by officers from the Mt. Lavinia Division Crime Investigation Unit.
The suspect, who rode the motorcycle during the attack, was apprehended in Makumbura, Pannipitiya.
Police also located the motorcycle used in the crime, which had been dismantled and hidden behind a house.
The victim, Praveen Nisanka, a contract worker with the Mt. Lavinia Municipal Council’s solid waste department and a resident of the Oben area in Dehiwala, died from the injuries sustained in the attack.
Further investigations are ongoing based on the information provided by the arrested suspect.
