Following the tragic bus accident that occurred recently in the Garandiella area of Kotmale, compensation funds have been allocated from the President’s Fund on the instructions of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
According to the President’s Media Division, the compensation—Rs. 1 million per deceased individual—has been directed to the relevant Divisional Secretariats, which will distribute the funds to the families of the victims.
The accident claimed 22 lives, and funds have been released to the Divisional Secretariats of the areas where the victims resided, including Tissamaharama, Lunugamwehera, Welimada, Haldummulla, Ella, Kundasale, Bamunakotuwa, Paduwasnuwara West, Polpithigama, Wanathavilluwa, Chilaw, Buttala, Thanamalwila, Wellawaya, Kantale, and Rambewa.
