The attention of the Ministry of Agriculture has been focused on providing uncultivated wet zone fallow fields for other agricultural activities.
Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera mentioned that many paddy lands in the wet zone have been left unused due to the inability to cultivate rice.
Accordingly, according to this year’s budget proposal, those lands will be released for other crops and animal husbandry.
The minister mentioned that steps will be taken for that from next month.
Accordingly, he stated that by submitting an application to the Agricultural Development Center he belongs to, he can obtain the necessary approval for cultivation.
