Yesterday (04), two masked robbers broke into a house in Nagollagama, where a development officer of the Central Environment Authority resides, stabbed the development officer and stole cash and gold worth more than 90 lakh rupees, including his car.
The Nagollagama police say that the robbers did not know how to start the stolen modern car and started it by scaring the development officer and taking his advice.
The police found the stolen car abandoned near Daladagama Junction on Padeniya Road. The police have also found some fingerprints on the note.
The police also say that this development officer conducts online classes for public service exams.
This robbery took place in the house located in Radibedi Ella area, where he resides with his wife and 06-month-old child. The police say that he lives in that house with his wife and child on a rental basis.
The police say that the two robbers entered the house by breaking a window while they were sleeping and stabbed the development officer after waking him up.
The development officer has told the police that the car is worth 82 lakh rupees. Police say that apart from the vehicle, cash worth 02 lakh rupees and gold articles weighing nearly 05 pounds were stolen.
The police say that there is a suspicion that the two persons involved in this robbery may have come with their faces covered because they are said to be around or know the development officer. The police believe that these robbers will be arrested soon.
