The Railway Department says that a special team has been deployed to quickly repair the railway tracks.
Mr. N.J. Idipola, Railway Media Spokesperson, said that special attention will be paid to the railway tracks that are prone to derailment.
He also said that passenger facilities will be provided so that passengers are not inconvenienced during the festive season.
The Railway Department says that the train derailment on the upcountry route has been caused by heavy rainfall and landslides.
