107 of the 138 inmates who escaped from the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center have been remanded until the 22nd after being produced before the Polonnaruwa Magistrate’s Court.
Twenty-two others in custody are scheduled to appear before the Polonnaruwa Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
The detainees who were presented to the court said that they were not given food and drink and were assaulted in the camp. They also said that is why they ran away from the camp.
The court has ordered that these detainees be presented to a forensic doctor through the prison.
