25 Indian Fishermen Arrested for Beating Navy Officers on Sea

Three navy officers who went to arrest a group of fishermen who had come to catch fish illegally in the Sri Lankan waters were beaten with sticks and injured.

This attack took place on the night of the last 9th at a distance of about 10 kilometers from the coast of Point Pedro.

After informing the officials of Kankasanturai Naval Base about the attack by the Indian sailors on a group of the navy, the additional troops arrived at the sea border and arrested 25 Indian people with two Indian boats who surrounded and attacked the officers.

These Indians have been produced in court after being handed over to the Coast Guard Department. There, the 25 fishermen have been remanded until the 22nd.
