Minister of State for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that the government is ready to reconsider the list of goods that will be subject to value added tax (VAT) from January next year.
Addressing the Parliament, State Minister Siyambalapitiya said that the government is ready to reassess the inclusion of 97 items out of 138.
He added that the government is also open to considering the concerns raised by various parties regarding the proposed removal of VAT concessions.
The government has increased the VAT rate from 3% to 18% with effect from January 01, 2024.
