    National Digital Birth Certificate Launched Under e-Population Register Program

    The National Digital Birth Certificate has been officially introduced as part of the e-Population Register program, marking a significant milestone in birth record management. The launch ceremony, held at the Kalutara District Secretariat, was chaired by Minister of State for Home Affairs, Mr. Ashoka Priyantha.

    Minister Priyantha highlighted the program’s rapid expansion from its inception in the Kalutara district to include other districts. The National Digital Birth Certificate is designed to align with international standards, and the unique number assigned will eventually serve as the child’s National Identity Card number through digital technology.

    Key Information Included in the National Birth Certificate:

    1. Place of Birth
    2. “My Number” (Child’s Future National Identity Number)
    3. Full Name (Sinhala/English or Tamil/English)
    4. Father’s National Identity Number/Name/Race/Nationality
    5. Mother’s National Identity Number/Name/Race/Nationality

    Special Features of the Certificate:

    1. Issued under the signature of the Registrar General.
    2. Inclusion of race/nationality information.
    3. Exclusion of married/unmarried status of parents.
    4. Issuance in Sinhala/English or Tamil/English languages.
    5. Application of special safety features for enhanced security.
    6. If information is amended, a new certificate with corrected details will be issued.

    The National Digital Birth Certificate aims to provide a secure, attractive, accurate, and widely accepted form of birth record, contributing to the creation of a comprehensive population register.
