New members are appointed for the National Sports Council and the National Sports Selection Committee.
The new Sports Minister Mr. Harin Fernando has taken this step according to the powers assigned to the Minister by the Sports Act No. 25 of 1973.
The National Sports Council, chaired by Dr. Maiya Gunasekara, consists of 15 members.
The National Sports Selection Committee is chaired by General Shavendra Silva and consists of 5 members.
