The Dambulla police say that a monk has been arrested for defrauding a total of 29 lakh rupees by selling fake gold balls saying that they were found in a treasure.
Police stated that this 24-year-old monk was a resident of a temple in the Panliyedda area.
A senior police officer said that this scam was done to a businessman
in Naula and this had two others involved. The police say that investigations are underway to arrest the suspects.
