Speaker took steps to adjourn the House for 5 minutes due to the heated debate in the parliament while the opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa raised a question today citing the Supreme Court judgment regarding a group of government officials including former Presidents Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Mahinda Rajapaksa and former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa as persons responsible for the country’s bankruptcy.
While presenting the question, several MPs of the ruling party interrupted it amidst the noiseof the parliament.
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP Sanath Nishantha, who came to the microphone of the opposition leader who continued to raise the question, and shouted from the microphone of the opposition leader, ‘Tell what your sister did’ and ‘Tell how you dug up treasures’.
At this time, several party and opposition MPs also gathered there to stop him and control the situation. The noise continued to spread.
