The excise duty imposed on sugar has been increased.
Accordingly, it is stated that duty on sugar has been increased to 50 rupees per kilogram.
It is valid for one year from today (02).
There was a tax of 25 cents per kilogram of sugar previously.
Minister of State for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that a maximum retail price will be set for sugar in the future.
