IGP CD Wickramaratne Receives 3rd Service Extension

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. CD Wickramaratne, has been granted a three-week service extension for the third time. This extension comes after his initial retirement, as he has served as the Inspector General of Police during the previous extensions.

The first extension, which lasted for three months, was granted on March 26 of this year and ended on June 26. Following this, a second three-month extension was granted, which concluded on September 9.

As of September 9, the Sri Lanka Police operated without an Inspector General of Police due to the failure to appoint a replacement. However, Mr. CD Wickramaratne has now been given a three-week service extension, marking a total extension period of six months and three weeks.

The delay in appointing a new Inspector General of Police has persisted for around six months, leading to these multiple extensions to maintain continuity in the position.
