The Colombo Municipal Council has issued a warning about a rise in dengue fever cases in specific areas of Colombo. Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni, Chief Medical Officer, highlighted that the areas of Narahenpita, Kirulapana, Modara, and Mattakkuliya are experiencing an increase in reported dengue cases.
Dr. Wijayamuni noted that just three weeks ago, these areas were reporting approximately two dengue cases daily. However, the number has now escalated to 5 or 6 cases per day, raising concerns among health authorities. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of dengue fever, including maintaining clean surroundings and eliminating mosquito breeding sites.
