    Talk with WHO to protect from the Nipah virus

    Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella says that there is no threat to Sri Lanka so far, but the measures to be taken to protect the country from the Nipah virus are being discussed with the World Health Organization.

    He also said that the Secretary, Director General of the Ministry of Health and virology experts are discussing the measures to be taken to prevent Nipah virus from entering the country and the measures to be taken if virus cases are reported from the country for any reason.

    He expressed these views while attending a press conference held yesterday (24) in Kandy.

    The minister also said that there is a risk of people infected with the virus entering the country by air, so special attention has been paid to it.

    In addition to this, he emphasized that the measures to be taken to prevent the disease from entering the country by people going abroad for pilgrimage have also been discussed.
