The Electricity Board says that it has been possible to increase the production of hydropower.
This is due to the increase in the water capacity of the reservoirs due to rain in the areas around the power plants.
The water level in the Samanala Wewa reservoir has also risen to 11 percent.
The board claims that there is no financial gain from closing the Samanala Wewa spillway.
