A senior Indian official said that after a dialogue between the leaders of India and China, the two countries agreed to defuse the heated situation related to the border, reports the BBC news service.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed this in a discussion held at the time when they joined the BRICS summit held in South Africa on Wednesday. Regarding the discussion, the Beijing administration stated that the discussion was held as per the request of the Indian Prime Minister.
China and India, two of the world’s largest economies as well as nuclear powers, share a border of three thousand four hundred and forty kilometers. Due to some situations that occurred there, the security forces of both sides have been deployed in that area.
Meanwhile, Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said on Thursday that both sides agreed to speed up efforts to disband troops deployed along the border.
“Maintaining peace and tranquility in the border areas and observing and respecting the borders is essential for normalization of India-China relations,” said Kwatra.
In a statement regarding the meeting, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said the two leaders had “sincere and in-depth exchanges on current Sino-Indian relations and other issues of mutual interest”.
President Xi emphasized that “improving China-India relations serves the common interests of the two countries and peoples, and is also conducive to peace, stability and development in the world and the region.”
Accordingly, if India and China manage to come to a common opinion and if both countries take steps to continue working as BRIC countries, this new situation will be a great help in creating a new global power by suppressing the Western forces which have already been broken in some way.
