Hydropower generation is also at its last stage

Currently, hydropower generation has dropped to 15%.

The Ceylon Electricity Board states that the capacity of reservoirs associated with power plants has decreased to 23%.

The capacity of Randenigala has decreased to 8.1% and the capacity of Victoria Reservoir has decreased to 27%.

The capacity of the Samanalawewa reservoir has also decreased to 1.9% of the total capacity.

Under such conditions, 80% of the electricity demand in this country is supplied by coal and thermal power.

Meanwhile, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka has approved the Sri Lanka Electricity Board to purchase 100 megawatts of electricity for a period of 6 months.
