It has been revealed that a skipper of a multi-day cruise was shot and killed at Kudawella, Tangalle, on the night of the 15th as a result of a dispute regarding the transportation of drugs by sea.
Police Special Task Force has arrested a disciple of a drug dealer named Dilshan who is staying in Dubai along with a car that was used to transport the shooter who came to this murder along with drugs.
It has been found from the preliminary investigations that the murder took place according to a contract given by Mr. Dilshan from Dubai.
The suspect was arrested with this car near the exit gate of Dodangoda Expressway.
The suspect who was arrested along with the car is a resident of Payagala, Ayyagama. He is 43 years old.
He has been handed over to the Thangalle police station for further investigation.
The items seized by the Special Task Force from this suspect are as follows.
1) 05 grams, 600 mg of Heroin.
2) 01 car. (WP CBD 0983)
3) Insurance Certificate and Income License.
4) 01 telephone.
5) 02 fake number plates. (WP BFI 4505)
6) 01 driving license.
7) 01 wallet with Rs.6,675.
According to the information received by the officers of the Special Raid Unit (Colombo Region) established at the Special Task Force Headquarters Camp, as per the orders and instructions of the Special Task Force Commanding Officer DIG Attorney General Varuna Jayasundara, under the guidance of the Director Intelligence Superintendent of Police MMK Wijesinghe, Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Police (Intelligence/ Special Operations/Anti-Narcotics and Organized Crime) Mr. Sagara Kulasekara, a team of officers including Station Commander Police Inspector BSH Peiris and officers of Katukurunda Training School’s Combat Motorcycle Team and Special Weapons and Tactics Team raided the van with this suspect and arrested him as a result of a raid.
