Officers of the Homicide and Organized Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested three underworld criminals who were preparing to attack and shoot a prison guard in Weligama who was travelling home in a passenger bus after work.
The officers of the Criminal Investigation Department have also taken into custody a motorcycle and a three-wheeler that they used in this plot.
Three persons aged 23 and 19, residing in Weligama and Dikukumbura, have been arrested. The three of them are to be produced before the Matara Magistrate’s Court today.
