President Ranil Wickramasinghe has emphasized that the country’s economy should be strengthened in such a way that the future generation will not have to face such an unfortunate era as the country and the people had to face in the last season.
The President pointed out that the country’s economic problems will not be solved just because the debt optimization program is successful, and that the program of building the economy should be started immediately with the right decisions.
The President also mentioned that if we do not move forward with a new program, it is inevitable that the country will face another economic challenge in another 10 years.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe mentioned this while attending the 150th anniversary celebration of St. Thomas Boys College in Matale today (13) morning.
The President stated that it is his hope to move the country forward with modernization in all fields and said that he will establish the Technology Promotion Council to acquire the necessary technical knowledge and the Digital Transformation Commission to speed up the digital transformation of the country.
Marking the first time that a head of state visited St. Thomas College Matale after Prime Minister Vijayananda Dahanayake, President Ranil Wickramasinghe, who visited the college this morning, unveiled the commemorative plaque established to mark the 150th anniversary of the college and also planted a sapling in the college campus to mark the occasion.
At the same time, the president also presented certificates to the students of the college who obtained the first place in the district in the general education certificate examination.

Will the President have the courage to do away with the Supremo Presidential System and the Hybrid Electoral System, where accountability, transparency and meritocracy will prevail.
He should cut down his cabinet of Ministers instead of burdening the masses & also put those responsible for the economic collapse behind bars in turn facilitating bringing back all the hidden money back to the Country.
Vile threats by this useless fellow.
