Health Services Commissioner General Dr. Asela Gunawardena said that the Public Service Commission has been informed to take disciplinary action against the Colombo forensic medical officer who is said to have performed his duties illegally while suspended by the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
Mr. Asela Gunawardena said that he received a letter stating that the work of the forensic medical officer was banned for 8 months and a copy of it was sent to the head of the institution where he works.
The Director General of Health Services said that the head of the institution should have intervened and removed him from his duties.
In the meantime, it is also reported that the forensic medical officer has appealed to the Sri Lanka Medical Council against the order banning him from his duties.
