A mine collapsed in the Dola area near Kahawatta Samarakanda Purana Gallen Vihara, and three people were buried inside it.
The police say that one person has died in the accident that happened yesterday evening.
The residents of the area had to put in a lot of effort to rescue the three people who were stuck in the soil. Although the three trapped in the soil were rescued safely, one of them died during hospitalization.
K Satyamurthy (42), a resident of Kahawatta Andana Estate, has died.
The two injured are currently undergoing treatment at Kahawatta Hospital.
